Richard Loader

I was born in the New Forest cottage where I still live to this day. My dad was a smallholder who in his latter years became a landscaper and also grower of prizewinning vegetables.

I have always had a passion for plants, wildife and the countryside. My working life started as a Nature reserve warden for the SPNR (later RSNC). Then I built up an Arb assoc. approved tree surgery business that struggled in the 80’s and that gave way to a  decade of organic vegetable growing. I then moved into horticultural retail and became a director of a Garden Centre group on the south coast.

After 20 years in the garden centre business, in early 2008 I decided to down-shift somewhat and go freelance with a business based on garden photography and web site building. These two enterprises co-exist sweetly and are mutually beneficial.  I specialise in building web sites for small to medium sized horticultural and rural businesses.
I am a member of the Garden Media Guild and the Garden Photographers Association. I am web coordinator for the GPA.
